Marsh & Company is one of the UK's Top Specialist Insurance Brokers is celebrating 20 years of continuous support for one of the county’s longest-running sporting events.
Professor Alan Wells, President of Leicestershire Ruby Union, and George Donnelly, the Chairman of County Competitions Committee, presented Alan and Rob Marsh with a commemorative rugby ball to mark the 20th anniversary of Marsh & Co’s sponsorship of Leicestershire Rugby Union County Cup.
The County Cup’s history dates back to 1886. Marsh & Co became involved with county rugby in 1986 during Leicestershire county rugby’s centenary year. The initial sponsorship enabled the Leicestershire county team to tour Italy and has since helped the county to run all of its competitions, with the County Cup being the climax of each season.
Professor Alan Wells, President of Leicestershire Rugby Union, commented: “The County Cup is an important event in Leicestershire’s rugby diary. It has been an exciting and successful year for Leicestershire rugby and this County Cup will not only mark 20 years of Marsh & Co.’s support but will also see the match being played at a new venue for the first time and a new cup being awarded to the winning team.”
